Kenny G's Malibu Mansion Drama: Hiding Assets or Feeding Tabloids?

Posted by Joseph D. Lento | Jan 19, 2024 | 0 Comments

Although renowned saxophonist Kenneth Gorelick, known as "Kenny G," and his ex-wife, Lyndie Benson, have separated since 2012, ongoing alimony feuds have surfaced in tabloids over the past decade. One of the most recent events in the ongoing Saga, as reported by People.com in November 2023, deals with Ms. Benson's claims that Kenny G. had been profiting off of a Malibu Mansion at an astounding $600,00 monthly profit while simultaneously trying to lower alimony support due to an alleged "downturn" in his career.

Ms. Benson further accused Kenny G. of hiding other marital assets. One of these arguments centered around Ms. Benson's argument that she has yet to receive a portion of a profit on a 40-million-dollar house that the saxophonist had refused to sell, in breach of their divorce agreement.

Although most couples aren't arguing over multiple Malibu mansions, there are many instances where one spouse may think they can get away with hiding marital funds. If you suspect that your ex may be hiding assets from you in your divorce battle, contact the Lento Law Firm's Family Law Team today for help by calling 888-535-3686 or using our online contact form.

Unveiling Hidden Assets in a Contested Divorce

Kenny G's case is just another example of the complexities surrounding asset disclosure in divorce proceedings. Often, one party may have a gut feeling that their ex has been hiding assets over the years but doesn't understand how this can become provable in court. After all, if they have been so skilled at hiding it from you for years or possibly decades, why can't they also hide this from a judge?

Fortunately, our diligent Family Law Team has experience navigating hidden assets in divorce proceedings and can use various tools to uncover your ex's hidden treasures. Forensic accountants, for example, can be an incredibly useful tool in asset disclosure matters as these accountants are trained to look for discrepancies, unexplained transactions,  and digital footprints to uncover funds. Property and asset searches can also be utilized to locate real estate in other states or even foreign countries that one spouse may be surprised to learn of. Finally, tools such as lifestyle analysis reports, business asset investigations, and digital forensics can also reveal a lot of information about a spouse's likely funds.
